Hydrant Flushing Begins

The City of Athens Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the community over the coming days as part of our routine water system maintenance.
During this time, residents may notice:
???? Temporary discoloration of their water
???? A slight drop in water pressure
These conditions are temporary and are not harmful. If you experience discolored water, simply run the cold water faucet for several minutes until the water clears.
Hydrant flushing is an important part of maintaining water quality, ensuring proper fire protection, and helping keep our water distribution system operating efficiently.
