Brush Pickup Returning to Normal Schedule
The City of Athens has completed storm debris cleanup throughout the community.
Beginning immediately, brush pickup will resume under the City's normal collection guidelines:
- Service is available within the Athens city limits only.
- Grass clippings, leaves, weeds, mulch, and any yard waste smaller than 1 inch in diameter must be placed in brown paper yard waste bags not to exceed 50 pounds. Yard waste placed in plastic garbage bags will not be collected.
- Please do not place bags or brush piles in roadways, ditches, or storm gutters, as they create traffic hazards and can restrict stormwater drainage during rainfall.
- Each residence is limited to one brush pile measuring no more than 6 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 3 feet tall.
- Branches must not exceed 6 inches in diameter.
- Brush collection is scheduled every other Monday, weather permitting.
