New Stahl Foundation Board Members Announced


The Stahl Athens Community Park Charitable Foundation announces a change in board membership effective January 1, 2021. Two board members, Richard Dennis, treasurer, and Donald Porter, chairperson, have tendered their resignations effective December 31, 2020. New board members who have been appointed are Austin Hemberger and Richard Henning. Foundation officers effective January 1, 2021, are Al Keller, chairperson; Holly Henning-Buhr, secretary; and Austin Hemberger, treasurer. Scott Laird and Richard Henning will also serve on the board as trustees.

Small Business Stimulus Plan


On Monday the Athens City Council voted to adopt a Small Business Stimulus plan in an attempt to help some of our City’s small businesses that weren’t able to qualify for any state or federal assistance during this difficult time. The application and information on the plan is available on our City website. I’d like to thank Alderman Chris Reichert for coming up with this wonderful plan and the rest of the council for their overwhelming approval of it.

Governor Issues Shelter-in-Place Order

Effective 3/21/20 at 5:00pm until April 7, 2020, Governor Pritzker has issued a statewide “Shelter in Place” order.  Shelter in Place means finding a safe place indoors and staying there unless you need to leave for critical services or supplies.  The City of Athens offers the following tips to get through the Shelter in Place order:
